Douglas Pearce
Veterinarian, DVM
Dr. Pearce earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida in Gainesville in 1988. He has been the owner of the Animal Clininc of Windermere since 2000.
Dr. Pearce is a true native of Florida having grown up right here in south Orlando. He also received a B.S. degree Animal Science from the University of the Florida.
Dr. Pearce's special interests in veterinary medicine include internal medicine and dermatology.
Dr. Pearce currently has two canine companions; Dudley, a yellow Lab and Freddie, a Jack Russell Terrirer.
Outside of work, Dr. Pearce enjoys fishing, boating and, of course, Gator Football.
Wendy Knighton-Buster
Veterinarian, DVM
Dr. Knighton-Buster is a cum laude graduate of the University of Florida. She was awarded many honors beginning as a high school senior with her acceptance into the Universitys Early Admissions Program for Veterinary Medicine. As a senior veterinary student, she also received the Clyde & Laura Spears Memorial Award for excelling in food animal reproduction, management, medicine and surgery.
Dr. Knighton-Buster grew up in rural North Florida, near the Georgia border. She was raised on approximately 2000 acres where her family grew crops such as; cotton, peanuts, and corn. Her family also raised beef cattle maintaining a herd of approximately 300 head.
Before becoming a veterinarian, she worked as a veterinary technician for 6 years in Valdosta, Georgia. She received her B.S. in Animal Science with honors from the University of Florida.
Dr. Knighton-Busters special interests in veterinary medicine include soft tissue surgery and preventative medicine.
Outside of work, Dr. Knighton-Buster enjoys motorcycle riding, camping, fishing and music.
Christine Cassidy
Veterinarian, DVM
Dr. Cassidy is one of our locum veterinarians. She is a 1996 cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia. She was awarded early admission to veterinary school and was also a member of the Phi Zeta Veterinary Honor Society.
Dr. Cassidy was born in Tampa, Florida, but has lived in many places growing up. Some of those places include: Poznan, Poland; Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Atlanta, GA.
Dr. Cassidys special interests in veterinary medicine incorporate feline medicine, critical care, and general surgery. She has also spent much of her career practicing emergency medicine in both Georgia and Florida. Dr. Cassidy also spent time in Tennessee in a mixed large and small animal veterinary practice.
She is currently a member of AVMA, IVECCS and Vice-Chairperson on the Animal Services Advisory Board for Orange County.
In her spare time, Dr. Cassidy enjoys spending time with her husband and her 3 year old daughter, Gina. Her other companions consist of 7 cats, 2 dogs, 2 horses and 2 chinchillas.
Danise Martinez
Veterinarian, DVM
Dr. Martinez is our other locum veterinarian. She is a 1984 graduate of the University of Florida. While attending the university, Dr. Martinez helped to establish the neonatal foal unit.
Dr. Martinez is also a true native of Florida and grew up in Tampa. Prior to entering the field of veterinary medicine, she received her Bachelors in Nursing from The University of South Florida. Dr. Martinez worked in human medicine as an RN for 7 years.
Dr. Martinez has a special interest in feline medicine.
Outside of work, Dr. Martinez enjoys horseback riding, and photography.
