Wendy has been with us since 1993 and is our staff consultant on dog training and behavior modification. She also shows dogs and is doing well with her Miniature Pinschers.Talk to Wendy if you are having any problems with training your pup.
Beth Hart
Head Technician
Beth started working with Wayside Animal Hospital from its beginning. Beth helps to take care of your pets when they are hospitalized, making sure they are comfortable and have plenty of attention. She has horses, Rottweilers, a poodle, and barn cats. She grows some great vegetables and is the best when it comes to cooking on a grill.
Jimmy Walker
Technician
Jimmy has worked with us since January of 1999. He is enjoying working in a job where there is always more to learn and every day is different. We also have an advantage of getting to be friends with everyone's pets. Jimmy is also a student at Auburn University at Montgomery. He has a wonderful wife and new little baby girl (and a houseful of pets)

Kennel Supervisor
Larry has been working with us since 1996 and is a joy to have around. He is great with all the animals; they love him. He gets to do playtime with the boarders when they stay.
Carol Dent
Groomer
Carol actually has her own business inside our practice. Carol is an inspiring person. She does the best job grooming and is a great and caring friend. She also drives a school bus for the Reel Town School Band, and is very active with the Alabama Cattlewomens Association and is on a National Cattlemens Association committee. She has 2 small dogs that usually travel with her...Smokey Joe and Heidi and at home she has a menagerie of animals.
Denice Westplate
Receptionist
Denice has ben with us for about 12 years. She works at the hospital on a part time basis now, so that she can help her husband Lorin with his business, Westplate Marine. We are glad that she still works with us. She spends her spare time baking, gardening, cooking, crafts, cooking, and sewing. We like the cooking /baking part which she shares with us regularly.
Mary S. Battistella
Veterinarian
Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine graduate of 1983. Started practicing in Alexander City in 1984, when Wayside Animal Hospital was founded. In 1992, a couple of my patients prompted me to look at alternative therapies to integrate into my practice. As a result we now offer many alternative therapies concentrating on Chinese herbal and acupuncture in addition to conventional medicine and surgery.
Her hobbies include gardening (flowers), scuba diving, activities with the children, Bluegrass festivals, camping, Volkswagons, and learning to play the viola and bass fiddle.
Sandra Reaves
Receptionist
Sandra has recently joined us though she has worked in the veterinary field for several years. She enjoys doing things with her family, vintage vehicles, and motorcycle riding, especially in nice weather.
Elaine Catrett
Tecnician
Elaine worked with us several years ago and has recently returned to help us with patient care. labwork, monitoring anesthesia and all the other duties that the technician does in a veterinary hospital. we are glad to have her back with us.
Tamara Angle
Weekend kennel and Technician assistant
Tamara is Elaine Catrett's oldest daughter and has been working with us for about a year. She takes great care of everyone's pets when they stay for the weekend. She gets to play with them too when they get the playtime option during their stay with us.
Heather Bingham, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Bingham is a 1998 graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary medicine. She will be working with us on Fridays and when I am out of town for seminars. If you get a chance to come by on a Friday, please come meet her.
