Dr. Robert J Greenwald
Veterinarian, DVM
Dr. Greenwald graduated Auburn University Cum Laude in 1963. Upon graduating he entered the United States Air Force, and served in Asia, as a veternarian from 1963 to 1965. He built his first practice in Pompano Beach Florida in 1966. He moved to Venice in 1978 and built the Ark Animal Hospital in 1979. Along the way he was issued 4 United States Patents for a veterinary laboratory device.

He enjoys every aspect of veterinary medicine, and prides himself on communicating with his clients so that together he and they can better treat their pets.

Even after 40 years of being a veterinarian he continues to attend sufficient continuing education to provide cutting edge medicine for his patients.

Dr. Greenwald can be found in his free time on one of his many motorcycle adventures (ask him about his exciting trip to Sturgis in 2006!) or at home with his wife Mila, his daughter Camille, his son Jake and their golden retriever, Miel. He has an extensive collection of rare fruit trees that keeps him busy as well and if you can talk him into a tour, you'll be amazed at what you see!

Dr. Maus graduated from the University of Florida with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Master of Arts, Special Education and Rehabilitation Counseling, University of Arizona. Dr. Maus has a special interest in Acupuncture, Dentistry, Behavioral Medicine and Disaster Preparedness.

Dr. Maus comes to us with a solid surgical background (having participated extensively in shelter spay/neuter programs in the past).

In her free time Dr. Maus spends her free time with her husband Dave, along with her friends and family. She enjoys reading, music, theater and learning new skills---guitar, Spanish, horseback riding) along with martial arts/Tai Chi/yoga and scuba diving.

We think her abilities, dedication to quality medicine, compassion and warm personality will compliment our practice and enhance the level of care of our special patients and their dedicated owners.

Roxanne Evans
Practice Manager
Roxanne has been with the clinic since 1989 and had over 5 years experience working in veterinary medicine before joining the practice. As practice manager she is in charge of the day to day aspects of keeping the clinic going (computers, payroll, bill paying, staff training, and general trouble shooting) as well as staying up with the latest on pet nutritional needs.  She prides herself in keeping her fingers on the pulse of client/doctor/staff communications. She's here to answer your questions.

Roxanne has owned horses and used to teach beginning English riding students as well as managing a boarding stable in the past before entering the veterinary field. She has been owned by multiple cats and her heart belongs to Irish Wolfhounds-even after losing her last one in January of 2009 and has owned pet birds of all sizes...from an Umbrella Cockatoo to a Nanday Conure in the past. Presently she is owned by a dapper little American Short Hair cat by the name of Micah, who shares her household and heart.

Roxanne is a professional photographer/graphic artist, with an emphasis on nature photography (wildlife and landscapes) and also pet photography and is always trying out new photography styles and working on learning more and more digital darkroom techniques in Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Lightroom 2. Roxanne's free time is spent with her significent other, Doug (both photographers and music enthusiasts) and his beautiful calico cat, Niki. Karen Mort
Receptionist/Vet Assistant
Karen joined our staff as a receptionist and veterinary assistant in 2004 and she's been a great asset to us since that time. Karen has an incredible memory for people and their special pets and she uses that to give everyone VIP treatment. She has a deep love of all animals and it shows, as she's quick to spend some extra time with a sick patient or a boarder lonesome for home. Karen is a dedicated, well trained team member who brings much skill and dedication to her job.

Karen is a talented wildlife and nature photographer. She lives in the area with her daughter Mikayla and her cat Bumper (who came to Ark as a dumpster kitten and adopted Karen on his first day here and has been with her since then and her other cat, Snowy.)

Lisa Cox
Receptionist/Vet Assistant
Lisa joined us in November of 2007 after moving to Florida from Illinois.

We feel lucky to have Lisa as part of the Ark crew with her previous experience in veterinary care and her great love of animals and we are sure that you will like her as much as we do. Lisa's big love are hound "dawgs" and their soulful eyes and big voices will get to her every time. Lisa cares so much about our patients and their wonderful owners and she has a passion for caring for them both. We're so happy to have such a skilled team member in our Ark family!

Lisa resides with her four beautiful cats, Gillian, James, Josie and Rocky.

Miel
Pet Socialization Expert
Miel is Dr. Greenwald's golden retriever and he's also our expert in socializing and calming incoming patients. He can either be found camped out in front of the kitten cage, helping the new arrivals for adoption to settle in, or he'll quietly take his place in the exam room to offer calming support for a patient.

He's a big favorite with the crew, as well as the clients and their pets. If he's not "working", he's sure to be asleep on someone's feet as they work at their computer or holding up the clinic walls with his body (although it looks like he's sleeping!)
