Countryside Veterinary Clinic , Inc. was founded in 1992 as a full service companion animal facility. Owner, Dr. Jim Hunter is a 1990 graduate of Virginia Tech's Veterinary school. Dr. Hunter and his staff strive to provide the best care in the best environment. Compassion and commitment to your pets is a primary concern.

We offer a variety of services. Beyond routine animal care we provide state-of-the-art medical and surgical services. We have the most modern and up-to-date equipment available. Continuing education is provided to our professional staff on a monthly basis by Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine. Our doctors pride themselves in the quality of medicine provided to our patients.

We are one of the first clinics to provide LASER surgeries in the Richmond area. LASER stands for Light Amplifiation by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. A LASER is a device which generates an intense beam of light. For more information about LASERS visit

LASERS can be used for a variety of procedures, including spay/neuter, claw removal, tumor removal and eye surgery. Dr. Hunter is trained to provide laser surgeries to animals.

There are several advantages of LASER technology, including:

Significant Decrease in Pain and Swelling - The LASER seals nerve endings, reducing post-operative pain.
Less Bleeding - The LASER shrinks small blood vessels, considerably reducing bleeding.
Reduces Infections - The LASER sterilizes as it lases and does not touch the tissue.
Decrease Anesthetic Time - The LASER allows many procedures to be done under local anesthesia and may reduce the use of general anesthesia.
