Dr. Dennis Arn
Veterinarian/Owner
Dr. Arn graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 1977 and moved to Las Vegas to work at Desert Inn Animal Hospital. A couple of years later he became the owner of the hospital. Dr. Arn has a large following of faithful clients and is a favorite among our breeding clientele. He is known for his excellent ear crops. Dennis married his wife Debbie in 1988 and they now have two wonderful children, Kristen 10yrs., and Scott 8yrs.. In his free time Dennis enjoys spending time with his kids and being outdoors, camping fishing, etc… At home the Arn family has a German Shorthaired Pointer named Shadow, and a little Yorkie puppy named Nikki.

Dr. Joel Farnsworth
Veterinarian
Dr. Farnsworth was born and raised right here in Las Vegas, NV. He has always wanted to become a veterinarian and has worked at Desert Inn Animal Hospital since he was in high school. When Joel graduated from Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994 he was welcomed back to Las Vegas and to Desert Inn Animal Hospital as our newest veterinarian. Joel's special interests as a doctor are taking care of ferrets and doing surgery. At home he has a ferret named "Taz", 2 cats "Stud Mo" and "Keisha". When Joel is not at work he enjoys watching football and spending time with his 6 year-old son, Christian, 2 year old son Kevin and his wife Stacy.

Dr. Clarissa Nelson Engstom,
Veterinarian
A naitive of Concord , North Carolina and a graduate from Colorado State University, Dr. Engstom received her degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. She is owned by a cat named Burley Ray and a Shih Tzu named Teddy Mouse. " It is my honor to helkp people care for their best friend and a source of unconditional love," she notes.

Dr. Christina L. Barbier
Veterinarian
A graduate of the Louisianna State School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Barbier joined our staff soon after graduation in 2001. A pet lover through-out her life, she currently lives with a Sheltie named Dutchess and two cats named Katie and Maddie. " I enjoy taking care of the health needs of the 'other' family member", she says.

Sam K. Lynch, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Lynch is a 1982 graduate of the University of Missouri, located in Columbia, Missouri. He was raised on the state dairy farm operated by his father. From the early age of 5 or 6, Dr. Lynch knew he wanted to be a veterinarian, perhaps because he had watched the veterinarian visit his father’s dairy operation for many years. Dr. Lynch has been honored by many community service organizations. One of his favorites is the Organization For Canine Companions For Independence for which his many hours of dedicated service have been nationally recognized. Dr. Lynch has also recently been awarded the prestigious Morris Foundation Award.

Dr, Lynch has a family of 3 dogs, all of which were acquired from the “ island of misfit toys”. Andy Airedale is the respected senior citizen, Pumpkin Poodle has a mild seizure disorder, and Gidjet the Yorkie has a fondness for both lace and carpet fringe and consequently suffers from an occasional bout of irritable bowel. Dr. Lynch is also the surrogate parent for both Bob and Honey, the clinic cats.

Additionally, Dr. Lynch has two great (human) kids! Sarah and Laura.


Robert Laughlin, DVM
Veterinarian
Born and raised in Las Vegas, Dr. Laughlin graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Nevada Las Vegas before obtaining his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University in 2001. He joined Desert Inn Animal Hospital immediately after graduation. His professional goal: “ To provide the best health care to pets and their owners.”


Michael Chumrau, DVM
Veterinarian
A native of Missoula, Montana, Dr. Chumrau is a 1979 graduate of Colorado State University. Dr. Chumrau has been involved with teaching the Veterinary Technician Program at the Community College of Southern Nevada. After serving as a veterinarian in Reno, NV, he moved to Las Vegas in 2001. His comment regarding his profession: “There is no better profession.”

April Heinch, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Heinch graduated from Mississippi State University in 2000. Originally from Brandon, Mississippi, she joined our staff in April 2001. She has 2 German Shepherds “Lilly” and “Wednesday,” and 2 cats “Tink” and “Tim.”
