Dr. Philip VanVranken, D.V.M.
Veterinarian, DVM
Dr. Pete is a 1974 graduate of MSU and the founder of Dickman Road Veterinary Clinic. He and his wife, Sharon, have two children along with four dogs, one cat and three birds. Dr VanVranken enjoys playing basketball, MSU athletics and old cars. His favorite part of the job is the clients and pets. His least favorite part is seeing animal abuse and people who don't take proper care of their pets.
Dr. Gary M. Ellis, D.V.M.
Veterinarian, DVM
Dr. Gary is a 1975 graduate of MSU and came to Dickman Road Veterinary Clinic in 1977 via Wisconsin. He is married and has three dogs and one cat. Dr Ellis' interests include hunting, fishing, back-packing, mountain biking and running.
Dr. Ronald A. VanRyswyk, D.V.M.
Veterinarian, DVM
Dr. Ron is a 1978 graduate of MSU. He practiced veterinary medicine in Kalamazoo, MI and Ft Myers, FL prior to joining the clinic in 1985. Dr VanRyswyk is married and has two children. He practices small animal medicine and has a special interest in orthopedic surgery.
Dr. James A. Barron, D.V.M.
Veterinarian, DVM
Dr. Jim graduated from Michigan State University in 1988. He is married, has three children, four dogs, and two cats. Jim practices medicine and surgery on cats, dogs, and ferrets.
Dr. Jen Tirrell, D.V.M.

Dr. Jen is a 2005 graduate of Michigan State University and was hired in January of 2007.

Pam Weakley
Practice Manager
Pam has been with DRVC since March of 1990. She has two children, a son who is in the Marine Corp, and a daughter who is a school teacher. Her pets include 3 horses (2 Apaloosas and 1 Quarter horse), 1 very spoiled beagle and a cat. Pam enjoys riding/showing horses, reading, bird watching, and working in her flower gardens.
Robin Sellen
Office Manager
Robin was hired in December of 2002 as a receptionist and has sinced moved up to the position of Office Manager.
Nancy Slocum
Bookkeeper / Receptionist
Nancy has been with DRVC since 2004. She has three grown children. Her pets include several cats and one dog - all of them rescues. She enjoys nature walks, birdwatching, and spending time up north.
Heidi Reschner
Purchasing & Inventory
Heidi has also been with the clinic since August of 1997. She has 3 daughters, 1 son, 2 grandson and 1 grandaughter. Her interests include crafts and spending time with her family
Peggy Heersema, L.V.T.
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Peggy is a 1979 graduate of MSU. She has been with Dickman Road since 1990 and is currently our head technician. Peggy is married and has two children, one dog, three cats, and one bird. Her interests include gardening and singing in the church choir. The favorite part of Peggy's job is learning something new every day and having lots of contact with the animals. Her main interest at work is in learning more about small animal dentistry. Peggy is also an instructor for Baker College's Veterinary Technician Program.
Toby Colyer, L.V.T.
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Toby is a 1992 graduate of MSU and started with Dickman Road right out of college. Toby has a Scottie and an African Grey Parrot. Her interests include gardening and making improvements to her house.
Sarah Vetter, L.V.T.
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Sarah came to our clinic and then left for a time to be a stay-at-home mom. She returned in 2003. Her husband is a retired teacher for the Marshall Public Schools, and her son is active in school sports, and band. Sarah and her son are active in environmental issues and take all of our paper products to be reycycled at least once a month.
Jackie Higley, L.V.T.

Jackie is a 1995 graduate of MSU and was hired shortly after graduation. Jackie has one son, two dogs, three cats, three horses and a large fish tank. Her interests include horseback riding, gardening, and hanging out with family and friends.
Dona Whicker

Donat started at Dickman Road as a Veterinary Assistant in 1996 and is currently our only Technician Assistant. Dona has one daughter, a granddaughter, two dogs, and a lizard.

Jennifer started working with Dickman Road in 2002 as a Veterinary Assistant. She went on to complete her degree at MSU and now works as an L.V.T.

Theresa started work with us in 2004 as a Technician Assistant. She chose to go on and complete her degree also and is now working as an L.V.T.

Erica first came to DRVC working part-time when she was still a student in High School. She came back in 2005 after becoming an L.V.T.

Kristin is a graduate of Baker College in Muskegon, MI and was hired in 2007. Her husband is in the Marine Reserves and she has three children. Her pets include six snakes, four lizards, one dog, one cat, and one bird. Her interests include crocheting, knitting, reading, riding horses, fishing, hunting, camping, and playing with her kids. the favorite part of her job is doing dentals, diagnostics, and nurturing theunwanted sick animals.

Salena has been with us since 2007. She is married and has no children yet but is the proud owner of two pit bulls and the proud aunt to her two nephews. Her favorite part of the job is seeing the animals going home after they have been here really sick. Salena enjoys her dogs, movies, myspace, reading, swimming, doing lawn work, and spending time with family and friends.

Diane is Head of our Veterinary Assistant Department. She is in charge of keeping the kennel area running smoothly and efficiently. The veterinary assistant staff monitor animals after surgeries and provide for the care, feeding, and walking of our animals. She is married with two children, three dogs, one cat and one ferret.

Chelsea has three dogs, one cat, a fish, and two rats. She has an Associates in Science from Kellogg Community College. Chelsea's favorite part of the job is surger, client education, pocket pets, and seeing some of the rare dog breeds that come in. Chelsea also works very closely with the SPCA and is actively involved with caring for and placing animals.
