Evergreen is a locally owned business offering full service companion animal veterinary care by expertly trained, friendly staff in warm and welcoming facilities. We provide examinations, sick and wellness care, preventive health care, medical diagnostics, dentistry and surgery.
Clients are an important part of our medical team. Helping clients learn about their pets, understand environmental hazards, and recognize when pets need to come to the hospital are among our strengths. We encourage clients to ask questions and we train our staff to provide answers.
We also have access to many specialists for consultation and referral in areas such as behavior, ophthalmology, surgery, dentistry, dermatology, internal medicine, oncology and radiology.
We have competitively priced medically-oriented pet products. Please check with us before ordering on the internet or from catalogs. Please remember -- we are here where you live.
We are out and about contributing to the economic health of our community and we encourage those who live here to shop here. Your dollars invested in your pet's health go to support people who work in our hospital, live in our community, and to pay local taxes -- both personal and business -- that lead to benefits and amenities in our community.
Our staff is also active in our community:
► The hospital has held a pet food drive each year starting in November. We ask for small bags (less than 20 pounds please -- the food bank tells us that many people walk home carrying these bags) of adult dog and cat food for the pets of people experiencing hard economic times. We distribute the food through the area food banks who in turn provide it to local dispensories. The 9th annual (2011) campaign is running Nov 16 - Dec 17.
► We are working with the Miami Valley Veterinary Medical Association and Sinclair Community College to start a degree granting veterinary technology program in our area. We expect the first class to begin fall semester 2012 and graduate in 2014. Our hospital is an accredited teaching hospital through another veterinary technology program and will seek accreditation with Sinclair.
► We are active in the local business community; served on the Board of Directors for the South Metro Regional Chamber of Commerce. Evergreen won the Chamber's "Small Business of the Year Award."
► We are active in the local veterinary community, participating in the Miami Valley Veterinary Medical Association and working with the Humane Society of Greater Dayton.
► Our veterinarians work with the local schools for career days:
-- In elementary schools we introduce the idea of fun careers working with animals
-- In middle schools we help students see science careers, like vet med, can be enjoyable and rewarding
-- In high schools we emphasize the science & people skills required in jobs working with animals
► Members of our staff are often guest lecturers at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, as well as serve as mentors to veterinary students.
► We typically employ pre-vet college students during the summer. They contribute to the operation of the hospital and gain valuable work experience prior to application and admission to veterinary college. Experience is required for students seeking entry into vet school -- veterinary medicine is an enjoyable profession, yet hard work -- quality experience is vital to career-long success.
► We have hosted foreign exchange veterinary students for medical practice experience in the United States. We are a model practice.
► Evergreen has been a business sponsor for the Centerville Summer Concert Series at Stubbs Park. The staff enjoy the variety of music played and the company enjoys helping to expand the arts in our south Dayton community.
