Four Paws Veterinary Services PC is a general practice animal hospital offering the following services for the care of cats, dogs and small mammals:

Wellness and Preventative Medicine
Annual physical exams, vaccinations, certificates of inspection for travel, heartworm and flea preventative.

Behavior Consultations
Puppy house, crate and obedience training recommendations, geriatric behavioral changes, destructive behavior.

Geriatric Patient Care
Routine bloodwork, x-rays and supportive care for the aging pet.

Anesthetic Procedures
In addition to surgical cases, many diagnostic procedures require a brief anesthetic episode.  A variety of anesthetic techniques and monitoring equipment are used to minimize the risk of complications sometimes associated with general anesthesia. 

Surgical Procedures
Elective surgery including spay (ovariohysterectomy) and neuter (castration) of cats and dogs are performed on a daily basis Tuesday through Thursday.  Surgical cases treated at Four Paws Veterinary Services PC include: removal of various types of tumors, dental prophy and tooth extraction, surgery of the gastrointestinal tract, lower urinary tract, eye, skin, cesarian section and fracture/repair of bones.

                                 

Microchipping
Microchipping offers a means of permanent identification which could provide a way of recovering a lost pet who has no collar, tag or other form of external identification.  Microchipping can be done during a routine exam visit or during any elective surgical procedure.  We currently use the ResQ brand of microchip and have a universal scanner in order to search for microchips placed in your pet.

Dentistry
Assessment of oral health, recommendations and instruction of dental care procedures, dental prophylactic teeth cleaning, periodontal treatment, tooth extraction.  Special care is taken in order to insure the pets safety and comfort during all dental surgical procedures.

Laboratory Diagnostic Services
We have both an in-house laboratory for routine diagnostic testing as well as twice daily courier service for samples to be tested at a commercial veterinary diagnostic laboratory.  In house testing is performed with IDEXX VetTest machine for blood chemistries and SNAP tests to quickly and accurately diagnose your pet when we need results fast.  Antech reference laboratory is used when more advanced testing is needed.  Clinical and anatomical pathologists analyze your animals samples to give us the diagnostics we need to treat your pet effectivey.

Radiology
In house radiology services are available as well as consultation services with a board certified radiologist.  COMING SOON: Digital radiography!

Diagnostic Ultrasonography
Visiting veterinary Ultrasonography Specialists provide in-house ultrasound imaging services for our clinic's patients.  This is a convenient and efficient way to help diagnose patients and provide clients with knowledge of their pets' illnesses.

House Call Service
For those clients who live in the towns of Mystic, Stonington and Groton we offer house call service for routine preventative care (annual exams and vaccinations) as well as work up of medical cases not requiring involved treatment or hospitalization.  We are no longer accepting new house call clients due to the overwhelming demand of in hospital patient care.  We apologize for the inconvenience.

Dietary and Nutritional Counseling
Does your animal need to lose a few pounds?  We will provide the client with the knowledge and means to successfully help your animal to lose weight.

Prescription Pet Foods
We dispense prescription pet foods such as those manufactured by Hill's Prescription Diet, Purina Veterinary Diets and Royal Canin Veterinary Diet.

Boarding of Cats
We provide quality accommodations for your cat while you are on vacation, have an illness or are just away for the weekend.  Our trained staff members care for your pets while you are away.
