AAHA Accredited:

We are proud to be accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA).  Every three years we participate in an onsite evaluation to ensure we are providing your pet with the highest standards of care.  There are less than 6000 accredited veterinary practices in North America.

Boarding:

Our boarding services are reserved for our patients with medical conditions.  Rest assured while you are away that your special needs pet is receiving their medications, and is being observed by a staff trained in your pet’s medical condition. This means a veterinarian can be alerted to any signs of distress and necessary treatments can begin promptly.

Behavioral Consultations:

If you are experiencing undesirable behaviors in your pet our staff is here to help.  After ruling out medical causes for the behavior, our staff can suggest training techniques or environmental changes that may assist you in resolving the matter.  Dr. Patrice Lima has a personal interest in canine behavior, and can provide in depth behavior consultations.  In cases where warranted, at home consultations are available.

Dentistry Services:

Pets have teeth too and need regular dental care.  At Gateway Veterinary Clinic, we recognize the importance of a healthy mouth and how it affects the overall health of your pet. That is why we offer complementary dental exams.  A veterinarian will examine your pet’s mouth and discuss any disease present, the treatment options, and what routine care can be done to extend the health of your pet’s mouth.  We are also proud to share our practice with Dr. Cindy Charlier of the Fox Valley Dentistry and Surgery referral service.  Dr. Charlier is a board certified veterinary dentist who performs advanced dental procedures such as root cannels.  While our practices are spate from one another, she has been very active in continuing our veterinarian’s education in current periodontal therapy techniques.  Our staff members have attended her dentistry wet labs, which ensures your pet is receiving the highest standard of care.  If your pet’s breath is bad, call us today for a dental examination.

Onsite Laboratory Services:

When your pet is critically ill time is of the essence.  Our onsite laboratory allows our doctors to gather vital information regarding your pet’s health within minutes of drawing blood.  The sooner a patients illness can be diagnosed the sooner treatment can begin to make them well.

Digital Radiography:

Digital radiographs give our veterinarians superior image quality and faster than traditional film xrays.  The digital format allows us to email these radiographs to board certified veterinary radiologists in order to receive their interpretation in less than 24 hours.

Surgical Services:

Whether it is a routine spay or an emergency spleenectomy, our staff is prepared to perform your pet’s surgical procedure with safety in the fore front of their minds.  All patients scheduled to be anesthetized are required to have preoperative blood work.  This is to ensure your pet’s internal organs are functioning well enough to remove the anesthetic agents from their system.  Our doctors use current anesthetic agents and protocols, some of which are used in human pediatric medicine.  Each surgical procedure is performed in a dedicated surgical suite, with our staff following sterile surgical procedures.  All surgical patients are placed on a heated padded water blanket for comfort and to assist in maintaining body temperature.  A dedicated technician is assigned to monitor and record your pet’s vital signs both manually and electronically.  Digital monitors are used to track your pet’s body temperature, heart rate and rhythm, respirations, blood pressure, and blood oxygen levels.  All our surgical patients receive pain medications pre and post operatively and pain medications are sent home to reduce your pet’s discomfort.

 Vaccination Services:

We carry a complete line of vaccines to protect your pet from common preventable diseases in our area.  That being said we DO NOT believe in the over vaccination of our pet population.  We follow the protocols recommended by the American Animal Hospital Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Association of Feline Practitioners.   We will evaluate your pet’s lifestyle and risks and vaccinate only against those diseases your pet may come in contact with.  After your pet’s initial series of vaccines, a three year vaccination regiment is implemented.
