ABOUT US We welcome you as a client of Great Falls Animal Hospital to one of Northern Virginia's most complete and progressive veterinary medicine and surgical centers. The hospital is an accredited member of the American Animal Hospital Association. Less than fourteen percent of the small animal veterinary facilities in the United States are accredited hospital members of this association. To achieve this distinction, Great Falls Animal Hospital voluntarily participates in an annual comprehensive, quality assessment evaluation of its facility, equipment practice methods, and pet health care management. OUR PROFESSIONAL HEALTH CARE TEAM To provide the most modern treatment available, our staff, through continuing education and professional affiliation, stays abreast of current research and trends in their respective fields. Great Falls Animal Hospital preserves our 40 year tradition of excellence through our commitment to providing the high quality, individualized care your pet deserves. Our professional veterinary health care staff, advanced equipment, and comprehensive, personalized service provide the necessary support your pet will need in order to remain an active part of your family for years to come. Our commitment goes beyond providing optimum patient care. We are also dedicated to providing you and area residents with information about preventive healthcare that can decrease pet injury and disease. By following our recommended immunization and health examination schedule, you will be able to protect your pet from many serious illnesses and diseases. Dental decay, once assumed to be part of the aging process, is now preventable by owner-administered maintenance. When necessary, Great Falls Animal Hospital utilizes an ultrasonic cleaning instrument, drill, or tooth polisher to restore dental function and to prevent tooth loss. SELF-CONTAINED SURGERY UNIT Our sterile surgical suite is designed to minimize post-surgical complications and maximize patient comfort. Whether your pet is scheduled for spaying or neutering, or a more specialized surgery--such as orthopedic repair, trauma, or foreign body removal--anesthetized patients are carefully monitored by trained personnel with the aid of EKG units, pulse oximetry, blood pressure and C02 monitors. MEDICAL SERVICES Great Falls Animal Hospital has four exam rooms, three separate ward areas and a large treatment room. Our hospital houses a full-service germ-resistant surgical suite, dental suite, in-house pharmacy, and diagnostic laboratory. Our microscopes and ultraviolet lamps are called into service when we perform investigative testing including parasitology, hematology and cytology, radiology. Other diagnostic equipment--such as ophthalmoscopes/otoscopes, pulse oximeters, proctoscopes, or rigid endoscopes--are utilized to diagnose problems of the ear, eye, urinary or gastrointestinal tracts. Symptoms of a cardiac problem may also be diagnosed with the aid of an electrocardiograph. An X-Ray machine pinpoints fractures and abnormalities during orthopedic examinations as well as providing follow-up data after orthopedic surgery. X-rays are an extremely valuable diagnostic tool. They provide instant information during office examinations and may also provide more in-depth data. For example, x-rays are ordered for contrast intestinal or urinary procedures. Dental x-rays are also available. Since the opening of our hospital in 1962, we have expanded the scope of our practice and today provide a broad spectrum of services.
