Dr. Gary Voelker
Veterinarian/Owner
Gary Voelker was born in Pittsfield, Illinois in September 1944. The son of a veterinarian, Dr. Voelker completed his elementary and secondary education in Pittsfield in 1962. He followed in his father's footsteps receiving his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University in 1968. He married Shirley Ann Levendofsky in Sept. 1967 They have two children, Jennifer(1971) and Courtney(1977).
Dr. Voelker practiced for 6 months at the Metropolitian Animal Hospital in Copley, Ohio before entering active duty in the Air Force in January, 1969. He was stationed at Francis E. Warren AFB, Cheyenne Wyoming.
After his military service, Dr. Voelker practiced for a year and a half in Peoria, Illinois. He moved to Denver in 1972, initially working as a relief veterinarian. In 1973, Dr. Voelker opened his own practice, Heritage Place Veterinary Clinic. In 1976, he became a partner in the Animal Hospital Center group. He opened a second practice, Animal Clinic at the Festival, in 1988 and sold that practice in 1995.
Dr. Voelker serves on the board of The Rocky Mountain Inner Ear Dizziness, Balance Disorders and Meniere's Disease Support Group where he was a past president. He is also on the board of the Marion Downs Hearing Center Foundation, having served as its first financial office. He is a member of the Denver Area Veterinary Medical Society, the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association and American Animal Hospital Association. He is licensed in Colorado, Kansas, Illinois and Ohio.
