Description

The Orange County Wildlife Foundation is a non-profit organization created to offer free care to sick or injured wildlife. The goal is to treat, rehabilitate and release wildlife, according to California Department of Fish & Game regulations. Our doctors and staff volunteer their time to help the animals in need, and donations are greatly appreciated.

Dave Thraen

Wildlife Rehabilitator

Dave Thraen, a State and Federally licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator, has been distinguished by the Long Beach Press-Telegram newspaper to be "The Saint Francis of Long Beach" and was honored as their "Community Hero" in 1998. He is the Executive Director of all Wildlife Rescue and Education, Inc. as well as being the founding father of this organization since its inception in 1992. he has also had extensive experience with the International Bird Rescue Research Center in their work with wildlife oil spill victims. He also worked with ORCAS, out of Marineland Palos Verdes, for 4 years. He was responsible for responding to beached netted and/or stranded marine mammals.

When Marineland closed, he was instrumental in establishing, opening and operation the Fort MacArthur Marine Mammal Center where he continued his efforts with injured orphaned and stranded marine mammals.

Dr. Tia Greenberg

Veterinarian

Dr. Tia Greenberg, who graduated from Ross University, School of Veterinary Medicine, in 1992 is the lead doctor at the foundation. She specializes in exotic pet medicine. She was honored in 1999 by the City of Long Beach as a "Community Hero." She enjoys nursing sick and injured wildlife back to health.
