Terry Woltman
Veterinarian, DVM
Head Veterinarian and Co-Owner, Dr. Woltman earned his doctorate in veterinary medicine from Texas A&M. He also earned a Masters degree in wildlife biology. He decided to pursue veterinary medicine after he took his dog in for an emergency and realized how wonderful it would be to help other people and their pets in similar situations. Dr. Woltman's family pets include three dogs, one cat and twelve horses. He's happily married to Kary who helps him run the practice.
Kary Woltman
Veterinary Technician
Manager and Co-Owner, Kary graduated from Bel Rea in Denver, Colorado. She is a certified and licensed veterinary technician and freeze marking technician. Additionally, she owns Flying Walker Ranch and breeds Tennessee walking horses. Her stud, Copy's Talk of Texas "Tex," is well renowned and has earned many titles including National Versatility Champion.
Dawn Payne
Receptionist
Dawn graduated from University of West Florida in December 1996 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration & Management. She has son named Devon, a daughter named Daegin, two dogs named Okra and Calypso, three cats: Kylee, Keira and Karli, four turtles: Red, Tiger, Wet and Swims-A-Lot, a hedgehog named Scuttles and a rabbit named Nugget. Dawn moved to Colorado in June 1998 from Florida with her family. She enjoys water-skiing, painting miniatures, writing poetry, and while living in Florida, she was a Martial Arts Instructor. She has been working at Special Friends since July 1999.
Vickie Edwards
Groomer
Vickie has been grooming for 21 years. She graduated from the Colorado School of Dog Grooming in 1984, and later was an instructor there for a year. She has two grown children: Heather and Nathan and four grandchildren: Michael, Wyatt, Emma and Emily. She also has three dogs named Freckles, Shane and Donut. Vickie enjoys being outdoors, a few of her hobbies being camping, fishing, gardening and horseback riding. She has been working at Special Friends since April 1993, one month after the clinic opened.
Linda Steele
Groomer
Linda works full time for the Cherry Creek School District but has spent the last 12 years of her weekends and school vacations grooming pets. She has one son, Raymond and two dogs named Chance and Roo. She has been with our clinic since April 1993.
Scott Kruse
Veterinary Technician
Scott was born and raised in Spokane, Washington. His interest in animals began when he was just a youngster, raising and showing rabbits in 4H as well as adopting all kinds of neighborhood critters. He worked in numerous small and large animal clinics while attending Washington State University, where he obtained Bachelor degrees in Animal Science and Reproductive Physiology of Dairy Cattle. In the spring of 2002, Scott moved from Spokane to Colorado so he could attend Colorado State University's Veterinary School. Scott's four legged friends include an adorable Vizsla named Marley, a Maine Coone named Nash and an iguana named Stoneyman. Scott has worked at Special Friends since April 2002.
Samantha Lerner
Veterinary Technician
Samantha was born in New Jersey and raised in Palm Beach, Florida. She attended Western Career College in Sacramento, CA for veterinary technology. Samantha worked for VCA Maze Animal Hospital for one year in Modesto, CA, then South Bay Veterinary Specialists in San Jose, CA - a surgical referral practice. She moved to Denver in October 2002 and started working at Special Friends in July 2004.
Jill Frey
Receptionist
Jill is a certfied veterinary technician who is now working as a receptionist. She graduated from St. Petersburg College's Veterianary Technician Program in 1998. Jill is originally from Miami, FL then moved to Tampa, FL where she met her husband Charlie, a Sergeant First Class in the Army. They were stationed here in Aurora two years ago. They have two chihuahuas, ChiChi and ChaCha, and five cats, Buddy, Madie, Marlin, Girly and LBG. Jill started working for Special Friends in December 2004.
