Dr. James C Diefenbach

James C. Diefenbach Jr., D.V.M. (affectionately known as “Dr. D”), founded the Animal Hospital of Huntington Beach in 1978. Dr. D. received his veterinary degree from Iowa State University in 1971. After graduating, he spent two years in the Army Veterinary Corps followed by a fourteen month internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. After two and a half years as Chief of Surgery at a seven-doctor practice in Brooklyn, New York, Dr. D. and his family relocated to Orange County.

Pamela McInroy, D.V.M. joined AHHB in 1993. Dr. McInroy graduated from Colorado State University in 1989. Her special area of interest is in exotics. She also is a member of both the House Rabbit Society and the Opossum Society.

Diane Wittenberg began working for the Animal Hospital of Huntington Beach as an Animal Care Taker in 1987. In 1990, she left to attend veterinary school. After graduating from Iowa State University in 1996, Dr. Wittenberg rejoined Dr. D. as a veterinarian in 1997.

We are also proud to have Dr. Lisa Mason as part of our team. Her special interests are in exotics, wildlife medicine and animal behavior. Dr. Mason graduated from Michigan State University and is a member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians. Dr. Mason has also guest hosted OCN’s “On Line” program, a live question & answer show about animals.
