Description

Our mission here at Animal Care Center of New Bern is to provide your pet with the best possible care. The three veterinarians here, working under Dr. Donald Campbell, are highly skilled in diagnosis and are knowledgeable about the most advanced and best treatment methods available for your pet.
Animal Care Center of New Bern was founded about 15 years ago here in New Bern by Dr. Campbell, and we have since then built our reputation as the finest veterinary clinic in the area.
We are a full service veterinary hospital. Along with our sister hospital, Craven Animal Hospital, we are the only two area hospital members of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA).

Dr. Donald Campbell

Veterinarian, practice owner.

|
Dr. Campbell is a 1975 graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. He has practiced in New Bern since 1981, when he bought Craven Animal Hospital. He opened Animal Care Center in 1986.

Dr. Steven A. Stelma
|
|
Veterinarian, practice owner.
|
|
Dr. Stelma is a 1987 graduate of Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He practiced in Michigan for one year before moving to New Bern, his summer home since 1975.
He is an avid golfer, and when not working at Animal Care Center or the Emergency Pet Service in Havelock, he can be found working on his game at one of the area golf courses.
He is a Board of Directors member of four organizations:
1) Emergency Pet Service of Craven-Carteret
2) North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association, representing the Northeast quadrant of the state.
3) Colonial Capital Humane Society
4) Wild Animal Rehabilitation Center

Dr. Ashley Parks
|

Associate veterinarian.
|
|
Dr. Parks is a 1998 graduate of N.C. State University College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, she worked as an instructor in the College's anatomy laboratory, teaching freshman veterinary students. Dr. Parks also completed an Internship in Emergency Medicine in Raleigh, NC.
She and her husband Barry, a veterinarian working at our sister hospital, Craven Animal Hospital, moved to New Bern in June, 1999.

After graduating from the Veterinary Technician program at Central Carolina Community College in 1996, Hope worked at Myers Veterinary Clinic in Sanford for two years.
She moved back home to Pamlico County, and began working at Animal Care Center in 1998.

Heather graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Central Carolina Community College in 1996. She has worked in Kinston, NC, and has been with Animal Care Center for the last year.

Jaime Hecht

Veterinary Assistant
|
|
Jaime moved from Hillsborough to Eastern North Carolina last year, and began working at Animal Care Center then.
Previously, she studied at Central Carolina Community College in their Veterinary Technician program, and she has worked as a Laboratory Animal Caretaker, and in a pet store.
