Branchburg Animal Hospital was founded in 1996 here in Branchburg, and we have since then built our reputation as the finest veterinary hospital in the area.
We know how much you care about your pet, because we care about them too. That is why the doctors and staff at Branchburg Animal Hospital have always done our best to keep your pet healthy.
We believe that it is through communicating with you, the pet owner, that we can work together to give your pet a happy and healthy home environment. Pets are an important part of all our lives, and we want nothing more than to ensure that your friends remain with you for a long, long time.

Dr. Karin I Derfuss

Dr. Karin I. Derfuss grew up in New Jersey. She received her B.S. in Animal Science in 1982 from Cook College at Rutgers University. She received her DVM in 1987 from Tusgkegee University School of Veterinary Medicine. She practiced as an associate veterinarian for 3 years after graduation in a large group practice. After 6 years of a successful house call and veterinary relief practice she opened Branchburg Animal Hospital. Dr. Derfuss enjoys challenging surgical and medical cases, and will explore all avenues to take care of your pet's medical needs. She has been the volunteer veterinarian for the Plainfield Area Humane Society for 14 years, and we regularly take care of the animals in their care. Dr. Derfuss believes that all pets deserve a chance.
In her free time, Dr. Derfuss enjoys skiing, hiking, cooking, and spending time with her husband, daughter and dogs.

Lee received an A.S. degree in Criminal Justice from Raritan Valley Community College. Lee has cats, dogs and horses. She joined the Branchburg Animal Hospital staff in 2000.

Nicole obtained her Bachelors degree in Animal Science in May of 2003 from Rutgers University. Nicole's responsibilities at Branchburg consist of assisting performing dental prophylaxis, monitoring anesthesia, pre and postoperative care, phlebotomy, and other various duties. Nicole is a recent graduate of the University of Tenn. Rehabiliation program.
Outside of the animal field she loves to exercise, dance, and ride quads with her brother. When not doing any of these activities she enjoys spending time with her family.

Susan has an A.A.S. degree in communications. She previously worked for the Ambulatory Surgical Center in Princeton. Susan and her husband have 2 children and reside in Branchburg. She is a co-leader for her daughters Girl Scout troop, a PTO member and active at their church.
Susan grew up in a home with multiple animals (including 4 other siblings). She enjoys tennis, cross-country skiing, gardening and is addicted to Marshall's...Susan has a boxer and a pug.

Janice has an AAS degree in Office Administration. She previously worked in the Department of Vascular Surgery at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. She has over 25 years of volunteer animal welfare experience
Janice and her husband have three teenagers, a daughter and identical twin sons. They share their home with two rescued mixed breed dogs, Will and Grace.
