Licensed in Washington and Arizona since 1986, Dr. Haugo founded Desert Vet Clinic in 1989. Dr. Haugo has special interests in exotics and birds while maintaining her love for cats and dogs - especially Great Danes. Dr. Haugo and husband Mark are owned by two Great Danes, 4 cats, 7 goats, 10 ducks,1 goose and who knows what else will pop up at Haugo Farms!

Melissa is our Customer Relations Coordinator and has been with the clinic for 3 years. She is a Chihuahua "collector" and enjoys scrapbooking in her spare time

Veterinary Technician

Leroy was hired in November, 1996. In 2002, Leroy obtained his License as a Veterinary Technician. Leroy's previous military experience and organizational skills give him the added responsibility as our main fixit man.

Heather joined our team as a Customer Relations Specialist and now also works as an Outpatient Nurse. She has a Pit Bull dog.

Risa joined our staff in January of 2002. She is currently the head of our Inpatient services zone. Risa and husband Darrel have 2 boys and 1 cat.

Jill began her career here as a trainee from Arizona Western College and has become the Coordinator of the Outpatient Nurses at our clinic. Jill is a cat enthusiast and I cannot count how many cats she is owned by!

Practice Manager

Jennifer joined the clinic in late September of 2002 and we are thrilled to have her here to manage the business part of running the veterinary clinic. Jennifer will be making this her career and intends to pursue the degree CVPM (certified veterinary practice manager). She is also active in our local chapter of Guide Dogs For The Blind.

Ashley is a part time Outpatient Nurse and attends NAU while pursuing a teaching degree.

Jessica works in 2 zones of our clinic. She can be found helping people in the Customer Relations section as well as the Outpatient nursing section.

Jessica R comes to us from the Human Medical field and now helps people and their pets in the Customer Relations Zone. She is still in training and is learning quickly.

Ruth joined the team from YPIC and has progressed to the evel of Coordinator for the Dental Team. She is outstanding in her area and helps our furry friends restore their puppy and kitten kisses!

Inpatient Nurse

Emily is one of our Inpatient Nurses and works in the "back" of the clinic making sure your friends are well cared for during their stay with us, assisting in surgery and performing lab work, x-rays and other important tasks. Emily also is involved in behavior counseling.

Alex

Outpatient Nurse
|
|
Alex is one of our part time Outpatient Nurses who also attends school. He works on the "front lines" in the examination rooms helping the doctor and making your pet feel more at ease during the exams. Alex is very involved in behavior counseling and has spearheaded our puppy socialization classes.

Helen is one of the Inpatient Nurses, caring for the patients who are in the hospital. She is also a member of the dental team helping to restore sweet smelling puppy and kitten kisses

Allison is another part time Outpatient Nurse who attends NAU most of the year. Like Ashley, she comes to work on her breaks and livens up the exam rooms heloing make your pet feel more at home.
