Dr. Kent Forney and the rest of the FAC team of the Forney Animal Center are proud to offer our clients and patients the best and most advanced pet care facilities available. Whether it's for a routine examination, serious health issues, or for the treatment of an injury; when you bring your pet to us you can count on all of our dedicated team treating your pet like one of their own. We here at Forney Animal Center know what your pet means to you and your family - and will work with you to provide the best possible care.

We emphasize preventive LIFE STAGE wellness care and offer state-of-the-art equipment such as ultrasound with “Real Time” telemedicine, radiology, and laser surgery. Dr. Forney and the other veterinarians on staff, work together to provide you with the latest advances in veterinary medicine.

Founded in 1987, it has been the mission of the Forney Animal Center to be "dedicated to the wellness of your pet." Our entire team works together, from the moment you step into the clinic, to make your visit as comfortable and efficient for both you and your animal. We are affiliated with the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association), AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association), and the NVMA (Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association).

In 1993, the Nebraska State Veterinary Technician Association named Dr. Forney Veterinarian of the Year. He was presented the President’s Award in 1996, and this recognition was from the Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association. The clinic was awarded the Business Excellence Award by the Nebraska Department of Education Vocational Rehabilitation for their continued community support by employing people with disabilities. Dr. Forney is currently serving on the State Board of Health.

Brad Hunter, one of the clinics highly skilled technicians, was named a Runner-up in last years Veterinary Technician of the Year Program sponsored by the National Veterinary Technicians Association. Two of the other technicians on staff have served in leadership roles within the Nebraska Veterinary Technician Association and Nanci Kyhn was named Veterinary Technician of the year by the Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association. These organizations have recognized the quality of the care we are able to provide, and we hope that you will too.

Services

The Forney Animal Center opened officially in April 1987 with Dr. Forney and Mrs. Forney and one employee on the payroll. By 1990, the practice had grown to include 3 doctors, 40 support personnel and a client base of over 5000. A major remodeling project, completed in 1991, more than doubled the size of the original hospital and added a second story.

Kent H. Forney, DVM

Veterinarian/Partner

Founded FORNEY ANIMAL CENTER in 1987.

Dr. Kent H. Forney is the owner/director of the Forney Animal Center. Dr. Forney earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska in 1979 and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in 1984. Upon graduation from ISU, Dr. Forney went to work for one of the nations busiest veterinary hospitals, Tropicanna Veterinary Clinic in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1985, Dr. Forney moved "home" to Alliance, Nebraska where he practiced in a mixed animal practice until his move to Lincoln in April of 1987.

Dr. Forney is a member of AAHA (American Animal Hospital Assn), the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Assn) and the NVMA (Nebrakska Veterinary Medical Assn.) where he served on the board of directors. He has also served on the Advisory Board for the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture Veterinary Technician program, the Lincoln Committee of Ducks Unlimited, the Rezoovination committee to fund the expansion of the Folsom Children's Zoo, the Cheney School Planning Improvement Committee, and currently serves on the Nebraska State Board of Health.

Dr. Forney enjoys the success of the Forney Animal Center as well as many other activities and interests. These include spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, and speaking to various groups, schools and organizations.

Carrie (Bachmann) Frey, DVM

Veterinarian

Joined FORNEY ANIMAL CENTER 11/6/98

Dr. Frey graduated in 1997 from Kansas State University with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation she practiced at a veterinary clinic in Kansas City, MO. She worked at the FORNEY ANIMAL CENTER (as a kennel staff member) before and during vet school. She returned to Lincoln in 1998 to begin to practice here.

Dr. Frey's special interest are exoics (small mammals and reptiles), surgery, and grief counseling. Dr. Frey heads the grief support group, Forney Furever Friends.

PERSONAL PETS: My cat, Patches

WHAT I LIKE MOST ABOUT MY JOB: Being able to help people by helping their pets, daily variety of tsks performed, challenge of diagnosing tough cases.

Kevin Christiansen, DVM

Veterinarian

Joined FORNEY ANIMAL CENTER 8/28/99

Dr. Christiansen graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1995 and graduated from the Kansas State Veterinary College with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. Prior to joining FORNEY ANIMAL CENTER, he practiced in a mixed animal practice in Wyoming. He enjoys snow-mobiling in the rugged beautiful Rocky Mountains and playing golf.

Dr. Christiansen's special interests include Ultrasound with REAL TIME Telemedicine, EKG, medicine and surgery.

Dr. Megan Ehlers

Veterinarian

Joined Forney Animal Center 2001.

A native of Minden, NE she graduated from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1999 from Kansas State University. During her senior year of vet school, Dr. Ehlers did externships in Denver at a Specialty Emergency Practice with a focus on surgery and internal medicine. She also spent time at Colorado State University in the oncology dept and experienced training in the methods of treating cancer including: radiation, limb sparing, chemotherapy and grief conseling. Dr. Ehlers has practiced small animal medicine in Lincoln for the past 2 years.

Dr. Ehlers enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery and the miracle of the human-animal bond. Her special interests include oncology, orthopedic surgery, and internal medicine. She also works closely with the "Angel Dogs" program.

Her hobbies include running. Her dogs, Gabbi and Dobber are her running partners. She has run in a number of marathons and hopes to complete more in the future. She also enjoys playing city recreation volleyball. Dr. Ehlers and her husband, Britt, are members of St. Paul United Methodist Church and help with the college age youth group.
