Dr. Cheryl Monteiro

Owner and Veterinarian

Dr. Cheryl Monteiro graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. She received the Caleb Dorr Award for scholastic achievement and a Memorial Scholarship for collegiate citizenship and academic excellence. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Tufts University and a Master's degree in Animal Science from the University of Rhode Island where her research focused on pain management. She worked in small animal private practice in New York before moving to Mystic where she has been working locally for five years. She shares her home with her husband Lawrence, 4 year old daughter Serena, two year old son Luke, two dogs and two cats.
Despite the long range plan for a stationary clinic to call their own, nothing has materialized to this point. Nevertheless, the housecall practice has been busy and does allow for a much closer connection to individual clients and patients without the stress of a hospital setting.

Dr. Lawrence Monteiro

Owner and Veterinarian

Dr. Lawrence Monteiro graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. He started his practicing career as a dairy veterinarian followed by working at a mixed (large and small) animal clinic in upstate New York. He has worked in Stonington, Connecticut and Waterford. Connecticut treating exclusively small animals. Since the summer of 2001 Lawrence has practiced exclusively as a housecall veterinarian. Lawrence has an interest in "pocket pet" (small mammal) medicine. Lawrence enjoys spending his free time with his wife Cheryl, daughter Serena and son, Luke. He also enjoys working on their older home in Mystic or getting out on the water sailing or canoeing.
