Description

LaFayette Center Animal Hospital was established in 1988 by Dr. Mike Younker. It was a time of tremendous population growth in Fayette County and Dr. Younker could clearly perceive the need for a facility that would provide, under a single roof, not only complete companion animal medical care, but also boarding and grooming facilities for the rapidly expanding community.

LaFayette Center Animal Hospital is proud of its excellent reputation for the highest standards in animal care and, of equal importance, its exceptional client relations. The staff at LaFayette Center is chosen not only for their medical expertise, but also for their compassion for the animals and their owners.

In 1990, LaFayette Center Animal Hospital became an accredited member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). AAHA is an international association of more than 17,000 veterinary care providers who treat companion animals. Established in 1933, AAHA is well known among veterinarians and pet owners for its standards for hospitals and pet health care. Over 2,800 veterinary hospitals voluntarily participate in the AAHA hospital evaluation program. Trained consultants regularly visit these hospitals to ensure compliance with AAHA's standards for services and facilities. We are proud to be a member of AAHA!

Dr. Mike Younker

Veterinarian, DVM and Owner

Dr. Mike Younker graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1982. After marrying his high school sweetheart, Terri, he moved to the south side of Atlanta and practiced in Riverdale for six years. This proved to be a great learning experience which led to building LaFayette Center Animal Hospital (LCAH) in 1987. Dr. Younker broke ground on the clinic on his 30'th birthday in 1987 (OK, go ahead and do the math!) and has been busy ever since.
Dr. Mike's interests include music (guitar, cello, mandolin, harmonica), golf, snow skiing, gardening, and woodworking. He tries to learn something about a new musical instrument every year. He and Terri have three beautiful daughters: Amy, Hannah, and Kingslea. They keep their parents very busy. Along with his duties at LaFayette Center, Dr. Younker is the Hospital Manager at Southern Crescent Animal Emergency Clinic, coordinating the business aspects and the personnel. You can be sure that he strives to encourage excellence at your emergency clinic as well as at LaFayette Center.
Dr. Younker is President-Elect of the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association, the voice of veterinarians in Georgia.

Dr. Erin Beckler

Veterinarian, DVM

Dr. Beckler graduated from Iowa State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1996 as the youngest member of her class. Dr. Younker likes to brag about how very smart she is. She is married to Brent and joined the staff of LaFayette Center Animal Hospital just one week after their wedding day. She has been a great addition to the team with her energy and enthusiasm. Make sure you meet her when you come in. She has a special interest in pet behavior and loves to answer questions about this subject.

Dr. Alison McIntire

Veterinarian, DVM

Dr. Alison McIntire has been a member of the LaFayette Center Staff since 1992. She is a full-time mom of three children and is married to a great fellow named Scott. They live in Newnan. "Dr. Mac" graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. She currently works on Saturdays. She recently had a child and is easing back into the work-world. She is an excellent diagnostician and is especially talented in handling complex medical cases.

Dr. Amelia H. Ray

Veterinarian, DVM

Dr. Ray graduated from Auburn CVM in 2002 and has been with LCAH since June of that year. She currently lives in Newnan with her husband, Drexel, chocolate lab, Bryant, and two cats, Rumble and McAlister. Professional interests include cytology, radiology and ultrasound; while her personal interests take her outdoors hiking, traveling, and refinishing furniture. Dr. Younker is quite proud of Dr. Ray's diagnostic abilities, particularly in the area of ultrasound. She has helped to put LaFayette Center Animal Hospital "on the map" as a clinic providing high quality and high tech services. She has been a welcome addition to our staff.
