Dr. Michael E. Mawhorter

Veterinarian, Owner

Dr. Mawhorter established the Line Street Veterinary Hospital in 1991 after purchasing the brick house at 520 North Line street. He began as a mixed animal practionier and spent much of his time treating cattle and hogs along with pets. In 1996 he quit the large animal portion of his practice to concentrate on dogs and cats. In April of 2000 he finally moved into his new veterinary hospital behind where the old house stood.
Dr. Mawhorter is a graduate of Purdue University in 1982 and grew up north of Columbia City near Albion. He is married to Rita since 1983 and has 3 Children, Scott 14 years, Kara 10 years and Karlee 8 years. His dog Molly is a 6 year old Newfoundland and shares the farm with 4 cats and 2 horses.

Linda Jones

Office Manager

Growing up in the Columbia City area Linda may be a familiar face to our clients. After spending some time exploring different job opportunities Linda decided that a career in the Veterianry field was right for her. Since joining our staff in 1993 Linda has moved up to the office manager position. A valuable asset to our clinic, Linda has become highly involved with the mechanics of running the bussiness. Recently she took some continuing education courses to help her manage the accounting part of the clinic. In October of 2000 Linda and her Rat Terrier Jack, were joined by Chad Jones who decided to take on the job of husband. Linda also has a three legged cat named Dozer. Recently Linda and Chad purchased a home in the country and are still trying to adjust to country life.

Lori Parish

Veterinary Assistant

Working in the Veterinary field of medicince for over 15 years now, Lori is a "jack of all trades" around the clinic. A resident of Albion as a child she began her career in Rome City then found us in March of 1995. As an advanced Veterinary Assistant Lori's duties range from general help in the exam rooms, assisting with surgery prep, some mild anesthesia work, and handling prescriptions. A resident of the Churubusco area, Lori and her husband Brian enjoy living in the country. Their two children Bethany and Cody seem to have taken after thier mother with a keen interest in animals. With a household of cats, and a black lab Lori is never far from the animal world.

Brooke Moore

Veterinary Assistant

Growing up in a "dog household" the animal field as a career was a natural choice for Brooke. She began working with us as a Junior in high school through the ICE program and has stayed with us. Working as a Veterinary Assistant her duties range hospital wide from being able to work the front, to helping in the exam rooms, to assisting in the surgery areas. Her talents lie more with the dog side of our clientelle than the cats! Breeding and showing Newfoundlands in AKC sanctioned competitions probably has played a part in that favortism. Though she started her college career in route of Veterinary School, her goals and ambitions have changed. Currently she is going to apply to Dental Hygiene School in February of 2003. Brooke plans to stay on with us as long as she can until her schooling takes over her time.

Vicki Western

Registered Veterinary Technician

Vicki started her career in Veterinary medicine from the bottom up. Starting as a kennel helper in her Junior year of high school, she then joined a work program through school and became a veterinary assistant.Confirming her desire to help animlas and a will to go farther Vicki attended Purdue University to graduate as Registered Technician. Having 18 years experience ranging from small animal practices to University level research Vicki is a fountain of knowledge to help answer your questions. When entering our clinic Vicki will be the first person that you see. She is currently our main receptionist and client relations person. Since joining our staff in May 2000 she has become a valued asset in client/staff communications. Vicki enjoys fishing with her husband Doug, and working with her Haflinger ponies. Vicki's twin daughters have recently told her that she needs to acquire another pony because they are tired of sharing with her!! Some of Vicki's accreditaions include being a member of the American Association of Laboratory Animal Science and the Indiana Veterinary Technicians Association.

Tonya Weeks

Registered Veterinary Technician

My name is Tonya Weeks, I am a Registered Veterinary Technician and live in rural Whitley county with my husband, Eric, and three year old son, Brady. We also share our home with two dogs, Copper and Cassie.

I first entered into the field of Veterinary Medicine while in high school. After graduating from Whitko High School I attended Purdue University majoring in Veterinary Technology. I have been a registered Technician for 7 years. After beginning my career in Fort Wayne, I decided to work closer to home and joined the Line Street Veterinary Hospital team in July of 2001. My special interests include; anesthesia, surgical nursing and ultrasonagraphy.

I am a member and past officer for the Indiana Veterinary Technician Association. I am also a current volunteer for SAVE, a disaster management program for animals. I also hold a membership for the North American Veterinary Technician Association.

In my spare time I work with the humane shelter by helping with various activities and doing pet therapy at an area nursing home. I have also been the Whitley County 4-H Cat club leader for about 5 years.

Tessa Irick

Veterinary Assistant

Joining our clinic in February of this year, Tessa has become a delightful face around the clinic. From assisting in the exam rooms to hleping out with surgery she is always a helpful hand. Growing up in Harlan, In and now residing in Fort Wayne, she is a newcomer to the Columbia City area. Currently Tessa is looking to buy a home closer to work and move her 3 Golden Retrievers and house cat to the country life. Tessa acquired 2 of her Goldens through Golden Retriever Rescue. Fostering them in her home, she was unable to release them to a new home, as she had become extremly attached. In her spare time Tessa enjoys watching her rescued Goldens enjoy their time swimming and being true retrievers. Tessa is also involved in Canine Good Citizen Trials and has been involved in Veterinary medicine for approx. 1 1/2 years.
