We are a full service veterinary hospital that offer:

- Dr. Bird performs surgery by appointment Monday through Friday and sees scheduled appointments morning and afternoon.
- We provide supervised boarding for our regular clients by appointment along with hydrosurge bathing of dogs and cats.
-Our office is open most Saturdays for supply purchases and boarders from 9:00 a.m. until noon.
-Morehead Animal Hospital carries Eukanuba diets for canines and felines, Eukanuba Veterinary Diets, CNM Veterinary Diets and Pro-Plan diets for canines and felines.

Dr. David R. Bird

Dr. Bird is a 1974 graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. He has had a private practice in Morehead City since 1975. He has specialized interests in feline cardiology/hypertension, orthopedics, dermatology and dentistry. He attends veterinary seminars bi-annually for continuing education.
An avid outdoorsman,he is active in Ducks Unlimited and the Red Drum Catch and Release Program.
Dr.Bird resides on Cedar Island with his wife, Kelly, along with 9 cats and 4 dogs (a Lab and 3 Jack Russell Terriers). In his spare time he enjoys boating and cooking, but mainly enjoys spending time with his daughter, Kristen, and twin sons John and Ryan.

Jill is a 1979 graduate of Central Carolina Technical College in Sanford, North Carolina. She has an Applied Associates degree in Veterinary Medical Technology and has worked at Morehead Animal Hospital since 1989. In the past she has also worked at an animal shelter in Alexandria, Virginia and worked as an educational volunteer in the Craven County Humane Society. She has specialized interest in animal behavior and in canine reproduction. She is a Hills Certified Nutritionalist for canines and felines and a DVM Pharmaceuticals Certified Dermatology Technician. She attends veterinary seminars for continuing education annually.
Jill and her husband Earl have bred and trained Weimaraners (German bird dogs)since 1982. Their kennel name Celebrith (pronounced kaw-LEE-brith) has a number of field titles, obedience including Utility Dog Tracking titles and to date has produced 7 AKC champions. One of their dogs, Ch. Celebrith Grand Illusion, CD earned the title BROM (Bench Register of Merit) from the Weimaraner Club of America for the achievements of her puppies.
Jill also enjoys gardening, visiting famous gardens and adores anything related to Disney. šOš

Kelly Wigington Bird is a 1992 graduate of Central Carolina Technical College with an Applied Associates degree in Veterinary Medical Technology. She is additionally a Hills Certified Nutritionist for canines and felines. She has worked with the Morehead Animal Hospital since graduation.
Kelly has specialized interest in surgical assisting, dentistry, cardiology and dermatology. She attends veterinary seminars for continuing education bi-annually (preferably in tropical locals!).
In her free time, Kelly enjoys boating and fishing. She is a former director of the Ladies King Mackerel Tournament of Carteret County. She resides with her husband, Dr. Bird, on Cedar Island, finds much strength in her church, and very reluctantly leaves the island for anything!

Greg Daugherty has been the Kennel Manager of Morehead Animal Hospital since 1987. His responsiblities are numerous and he is "on call" 7 days a week for the kenneled animals under his care.
He was born and raised in Carteret County and is the father of five which keeps his free time busy. He is very active in his church and serves as it's treasurer. He is interested in computers and what little spare time he has involves that.
His smiling face is a joy to all of us who know him!
