Oakwood Animal Hospital's Mission is to actively promote and nurture the human-animal bond by providing comprehensive high quality veterinary care with an emphasis on exceptional client service and compassionate patient care, while providing employees with desirable, fulfilling and rewarding careers.
The hospital provides medical and surgical care for cats and dogs. Dr. Eberhard is a fellow in the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry and provides basic and advanced procedures in dentistry and oral surgery. Dr. Barkow has a special interest in orthopedic surgery, particularly in cruciate ligament repair. Dr. Kotev is skilled in ultrasound examinations of the chest and abdomen. All three veterinarians have experience in handling routine and complicated medical and surgical cases. We have been affiliated with MVMA and AVMA for 23 years. Our goal is to provide the best in medical and surgical care for your pet. Our staff includes two licensed veterinary technicians, three veterinary assistants, four receptionists and a dental assistant.

Dr. Thomas Eberhard

Veterinarian, DVM

Dr. Eberhard graduated from Michigan State University in 1980 and became a fellow in the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry in 1998. He served as an adjunct professor at Michigan State University teaching dentistry and oral surgery from 1996 to 2002. Dr. Eberhard opened Oakwood Animal Hospital in 1984.

Dr. Barkow is a 1986 graduate of Michigan State University. After working for four years in a mixed animal practice, Dr. Barkow joined Oakwood Animal Hospital in 1990. His interests include surgery and geriatric health care.

Dr. Kotev graduated in 1997 from Trakia University College of Veterinary Medicine in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria. His areas of interest include orthopedic surgery, thoracic surgery and ultrasound diagnostics.
