We are located in Petal, MS on Hwy 42 near Crestview Baptist Church just off the Gandy Parkway. (We are about 1/4 mile west of Walmart on Hwy 42) WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU SOON!

For after hours care, Emergency Vets on Hwy 49 is located near Conestoga Steak House in Hattiesburg. E-VETs is the only area hospital where the veterinarian is on the premises at night.

Services

Full service hospital and boarding kennel for small animals, birds, exotics, and small farm animals

Equipped for routine and emergency medical, surgical, dental, and trauma cases

Emergency medicine and surgery for poisonings, gunshot wounds, bite wounds, car accidents, complicated pregnancies and C-sections

Treatment plans for every budget; estimates provided before therapy. No hidden fees

Hospitalization (only if absolutely necessary) in a clean, well attended kennel. Separate isolation room for contagious pets

Critical care cases transported to Emergency Vets for overnight treatment with a veterinarian

Routine examinations and vaccines based on American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) Guidelines

Wellness and preventative care (available at a discounted rate). Insurance plans accepted

Grooming by Shannon Kemp - with over 15 years of experience and many happy clients!

Complete in house blood testing, urinalysis, parasite testing, and cytopathology for tumors and blood disorders

X-ray services for broken bones and internal injuries

Anesthesia ASAP (As Safe As Possible)

Elective surgeries: all spays and neuters include EKG, pulse oximetry, and perioperative pain medication. Pets may go home same day!

Emergency surgeries - our doctors have over 20 years of experience with soft tissue surgery. We offer less invasive methods of broken bones

Dentistry including scaling, polishing, extractions and even root canals if necessary

Itchy pets dermatology service with allergy testing and treatment without the use of hazardous dips and chemicals

Neonatal and new litter care with heated incubator for small sick babies. IV Fluid pumps for even the smallest patients

Senior pet care (we love the senior citizens!) for arthritis, pain, and vision problems - ask about our VIP plan

Heartworm testing and treatment options for all budgets

Heart disease and asthma care - in house EKG, pulse oximetry, nebulization, and oxygen therapy

Boarding kennels to fit even the largest dog. Big fenced in yard for supervised play time

Kitty cat condos located away from dogs with bird and butterfly view

Weekend kennel hours by appointment (for special admission and discharge of kennel guests!)

Doggy day care. (We let kitties come too)

Pets staying 4 or more nights receive a free Hydrosurge massage bath and shed reducing blow dry before going home

Staff Members

Dr. Christine Gibson

Veterinarian, DVM

Dr. Gibson is the practice owner and one of only a few residency trained veterinarians in south Mississippi. She did an internship in New York City in small and exotic animal medicine and surgery and a residency in Clinical Pathology at NC State University. Her interests are Canine, Feline , Avian and Exotic pet medicine, and in house microscopic analysis of tumors and blood disorders. She also enjoys soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and non- invasive methods for fixing broken bones. She is married with 4 children, 6 dogs, 2 Amazon parrots, and 2 overweight pot-bellied pigs.

Dr. Will Norris

Veterinarian, DVM

Dr. Norris is a Hattiesburg native and graduate of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State. He has a special interest in radiology (x-rays / ultrasound) and bone surgery. In his spare time, he coaches for the Hattiesburg Youth Soccer Association and competes in endurance sports competitions. He also enjoys the outdoors - especially if he can fish!

Lisa VanGundy

Veterinary Technician

Lisa is a proud military mother, having two sons currently protecting us in the armed forces. She is also a new grandmother! She is a friendly staff member, always willing to go the extra mile to keep our animal friends healthy. She and her husband Allen are enjoying an "empty" nest along with their one feline and six canine companions.

Jessica Lingle

Veterinary Technician

Jessica is a college junior whose career aspirations include human radiology and medicine. She has done a great job here as a veterinary tech and receptionist, working after school and weekends since she was 15 years old. She is mom to a one-eyed cat named "Scarface".

Rhonda Grissom

Veterinary Technician

Rhonda is our resident Veterinary Technician / Groomer. She has been involved in 4H for years, enjoys showing horses, and goes out of her way to make sure all of our patients are healthy and happy. She is married to the infamous Johnny Grissom and has two beautiful daughters, horses, dogs, cats, ducks, one winged pigeons, and a goat.

Vickie Freeman

Receptionist

Vickie came to us with over 10 years of experience as a veterinary receptionist! She has recently re-entered the work force and has a husband and 4 children. Pekengese Lilly is her puppy. Vickie keeps us all on schedule and is our role model for professional telephone skills!

Rebecca Holifield

Receptionist

Rebecca brings great enthusiasm and energy to our clinic. She keeps us entertained and is working on her avian handling skills. She has three handsome young sons and moonlights as Reba McIntyre! The girl can sing!

Kate Schraeder

Receptionist

Kate is our friendly afternoon/evening receptionist who balances work with a full course load at USM. She has an interest in internal medicine and a love of learning. She is also Dr. G's neice!

Tony O'Dell

Veterinary Technician

Tony is originally from Bristol, VA. He Studies Marine Biology at the University of Southern Mississippi. Tony teaches biology labs for non-science majors at the university and has studied classical singing since 1998.

Kayla Dearman

Veterinary Technician

Kayla is our new girl, she's 24 and grew up in Greene County. She learned her technical skills at a vet's office in Saraland, AL. Her passion is working with animals and she hopes to continue her education in the vet field this year.

Danielle Walton

Veterinary Assistant

Danielle is a volunteer for us on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. She is a graduate of Petal High School and brings much enthusiasm and joy to us as she helps tend to our pet patients, waters our plants, and sweeps the porch.

Possum,Pete,Lizzie Bob

Veterinary Assistant

Our clinic cats have free run of the place and no fear of big dogs. Possum was bottle raised by Dr. G, Pete was left in the back yard after being hit by a car, and Lizzie is a shy stray. They help surgery pets recover by sharing the warm blankets and are into everything keeping us amused and sometimes irritated!

Paco and C.C.

Veterinary Assistant

The yellow naped Amazon parrots are Dr. G's babies. Paco is 28 and C.C. is 22 years old. They help greet our patients hello and good-bye. They make lots of noise and are cute but they WILL BITE!

Bekah Garrison

Receptionist

Becca is the daughter of Dr. Daneille Garrison - a vet in Bay Springs, MS. She works part time for us while attending college. She is considering following in her mother's footsteps for a career as a veterinarian!

Rachel DeMontmollin

Veterinary Technician

Rachel comes to us from Hawaii! She has several years experience as both a technician and receptionist for the VCA Animal Hospital chain. She has recently moved back to the area to be closer to family with her husband and young son.

Channing Oglesby

Veterinary Assistant

Channing is a Petal High School student who first came to us as a 7th grade job shadow student. (He nearly passed out for his first surgery...but has made a terrific recovery!) He works after school and weekends to gain experience before applying to vet school.

Shannon Ballard Kemp

Groomer

Shannon approached us looking for a position as a groomer in March. We are so blessed to have her! Folks far and wide (from Wiggins to Canebrake) are coming in for her puppy cuts. She is a true professional and does a FABULOUS job. She is friendly and the dogs love her! (We do too!)
