He practiced Veterinary medicine in Arizona for two years before joining Rancho Sequoia Veterinary Hospital in December 1984. Dr. Sara Engelsen

Veterinarian

Dr. Sara Engelsen was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. She received her bachelors degree in mathematics from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. She moved to California to escape the rain and did accounting for three years. She returned to school to pursue her lifelong passion, a career as a veterinarian. Dr. Engelsen has an interest in animal behavior and training, boogie boarding, beading and home improvements.

Diane

Registered Veterinary Technician

Diane joined the staff of Rancho Sequoia Veterinary Hospital full time in June, 1996 after a 13 year career in Media Relations. She recently finished coursework at Pierce College and passed the State of California Registered Veterinary Technician exam in March, 2000.
A resident of Simi Valley since 1995, at home, Diane tends to her black lab, Lita, Appaloosa horse, Vegas, and husband Bill.

Lisa

Veterinary assistant

Lisa has a particular interest in exotic animals and is a graduate of Moorpark College's Exotic Animal Training Program (EATM). Her previous experience includes 6 years at a 24 hour equine hospital prior to joining Rancho Sequoia Veterinary Hospital in July, 1997. Her menagerie consists of 2 rescue mutts, 3 cats, 3 rabbits, a pet chicken and an African Grey parrot.

Nan

Receptionist

I have worked as a front office receptionist since June, 1995. I studied animal science/business in school. I'm devoted to my job and the wonderful people with whom I work.
I go home to my 2 German Shepherds, 1 Chihuahua, 5 cats, cocktiels, chickens, 4 horses, 5 kids and my future husband!

Jan

Receptionist

I have been associated with Rancho Sequoia Veterinary Hospital since 1982 as a client, and 1984 as an employee. As we entered the new millennium, I entered my 17th year here. I am receptionist, accounts receivable clerk and do word processing. I love my job, am proud of "my" hospital and enjoy the clients and my fellow employees. I share my home with 13 pets.

Stefanie

Veterinary assistant

I am a Veterinary Assistant. I am 19 years old and currently enrolled in the Veterinary Technology program at Pierce Junior College. I hope to become a Registered Veterinary Technician and some day train and work with exotic animals. I have two cats, Smokey and Sissy, a retriever mix, Chuey and a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, Dino.

Nicki

Receptionist

Nicki has been a part of the Rancho Sequoia Veterinary Hospital family since May, 1999. She is taking a short break from her studies, but hopes to stay in the veterinary field when she returns. She has always had a love for animals which she shares at home with her two tortie cats, Shadow and Dodi and her Cocker Spaniel, Mr. Perkins.

Bonnie

Receptionist

I am one of the newer members of the team at Rancho Sequoia Veterinary Hospital. I've worked in the front office reception area since September, 1999. It is my great love for animals that drew me to this job. I feel very fortunate to work with so many wonderful people. At home I live in my little condo, with my little girl, my little dog and my little cat.

Becky

Kennelperson/Veterinary assistant

I've been a member of the staff at Rancho Sequoia for two fulfilling years. I enjoy working with everyone and every animal.
My pets include three cats: Samson, Skitz and Zen; one dog, Jazmin and an iguana, Max.
I enjoy horseback riding, especially endurance. On the weekends, I volunteer teaching handicapped children to ride. I hope to one day have my own ranch to further teach children horsemanship.

Tom

Registered Veterinary Technician

Tom first entered the animal health field in 1974. After graduating from Pierce College and becoming licensed, Tom has been a practicing Veterinary Technician since 1976. With experience as an emergency and exotics technician, Tom has worked primarily with small animals. The 20 year Simi resident and father of 2 is pleased to be associated with Rancho Sequoia Veterinary Hospital.

Maureen

Receptionist/Veterinary assistant

I have thoroughly enjoyed being a receptionist/veterinary assistant since April, 1993 at Rancho Sequoia. I've been married for 19 years and have 2 teenage sons. In my "spare time" over the past 30 years, I have been breeding and showing Norwegian Elkhounds.

Denise

Veterinary assistant

Denise attended Pierce College, majoring in Equine Science. After a long, successful career training horses and working at a local equine hospital, she joined the Rancho Sequoia staff in October, 1999. Her pets include a horse, 2 dogs, a cat and a loving hamster.

Peter

kennelperson/veterinary assistant

I chose to work at Rancho Sequoia Veterinary Hospital because I wanted to acquire necessary skills for the field of veterinary medicine. Along with my experience, which I am gaining at the hospital, I am also a full-time student at California Lutheran University. I am currently working on my bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences which I plan to receive in 2001. With my experience and degree, I hope to be accepted and attend Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine.
When I have achieved my goals, it is the great and talented doctors and the wonderful staff of Rancho Sequoia Veterinary Hospital who are to thank for giving me the opportunity to reach my goals.

Neil

Kennelperson/Veterinary assistant

I have been working at Rancho Sequoia since fall, 1999. I am a seventeen year old student currently enrolled in the work experience program at Royal High School. The reason I chose to apply here is that I really enjoy working with animals. Prior to this job I worked in a pet store. I like the opportunities for learning I find at the hospital.

Sandy Aberle

office manager

I am what one would call "original equipment" at Rancho Sequoia Veterinary Hospital.
Dr. Aberle and I built the hospital in 1978. Along with that "building" has come the building of a storehouse of memories. We are pleased to have had the opportunity to serve, with our co-workers, many special clients and their pets over the years. If you are one of those "over the years" clients, thank you for your support. If you are new to our area, we would welcome the opportunity to provide for the health care needs of your family pets.
